KASAHOROW.COM LAUNCHED TO REDUCE COMMUNICATION INEFFICIENCIES BETWEEN TRADITIONAL AND MODERN AFRICA

Accra, Ghana, March 30, 2006: On March 28, the kasahorow Communications Group was launched at www.kasahorow.com and www.kasahorow.org. The Group is a public service of Suuch Solutions and is the result of the kasahorow Localization Project which was incubated by The GhanaThink Foundation, an Africa-focused think-tank based in Ghana.

From GhanaThink Tsooboi! to Independence
The kasahorow Localization Project began as the kasahorow Dictionary Project for the Twi and Fanti languages of West Africa. kasahorow has since transitioned from a Twi-Fanti-English dictionary, into an Akan languages dictionary. After its merger with the Ghana Localization Project, which aimed to bridge the technological gap between Ghanaian cultures and the rest of the world, it took on the name kasahorow Localization Project. After 13 months of existence, HomeFront, one of the main wings of The GhanaThink Foundations, has helped it transform into a self-sustaining entity as the kasahorow Communication Group.

The kasahorow Communication Group provides public services aimed at reducing communication inefficiencies between traditional and modern Africa. The Group pursues this goal on two major fronts:

kasahorow.com develops electronic African language aids.
Website: http://www.kasahorow.com
kasahorow.org publishes emerging technical standards for African language processing. It is administered and funded by kasahorow.com.
Website: http://www.kasahorow.org

The Group's current resources bridge the three main commercial languages of modern Ghana--Akan, Gbe (Ewe) and Hausa—with English. Work is in progress to publish online resources for other regional languages of West and East Africa.

The Group's Advisory Board comprises:

Dorothy Gordon, Director, Kofi Annan Centre for Excellence in ICT, Ghana
Kwesi Kwaa Prah, Director, Center for the Advanced Study of African Society (CASAS), South Africa
Kofi Blankson Ocansey, Managing Partner, Dixcove Ventures Advisory Group, Ghana, USA
